Abstract | A wide variety ofÃÂ floraÃÂ canÃÂ be foundÃÂ andÃÂ can be used,ÃÂ as a medicinal plant.ÃÂ Medicinal plantsÃÂ areÃÂ a majorsource ofÃÂ newÃÂ chemicalÃÂ compoundsÃÂ discovery withÃÂ therapeuticÃÂ effects.ÃÂ One of the plantsÃÂ thatÃÂ canÃÂ be usedÃÂ as a medicinal plantÃÂ is a cambodia plantÃÂ (PlumeriaÃÂ albaÃÂ LÃÂ cv.ÃÂ Acutifolia).ÃÂ CambodiaÃÂ plantsÃÂ including theApocynaceae family.ÃÂ CambodiaÃÂ is aÃÂ traditionalÃÂ cropÃÂ plantsÃÂ thatÃÂ are reportedÃÂ to haveÃÂ various properties, includingÃÂ its leavesÃÂ as aÃÂ laxative,ÃÂ itchingÃÂ andÃÂ antibacterial,ÃÂ fruitÃÂ andÃÂ barkÃÂ reportedÃÂ anti-inflammatoryÃÂ effect. The purposeÃÂ ofÃÂ this studyÃÂ was to determineÃÂ the potentialÃÂ ofÃÂ cambodiaÃÂ leavesÃÂ asÃÂ antibacterial,ÃÂ determiningÃÂ the MinimumÃÂ Inhibitory ConcentrationÃÂ GrowthÃÂ (KHTM)ÃÂ ofÃÂ cambodiaÃÂ leaf extractÃÂ whichÃÂ has theÃÂ highestÃÂ inhibitoryactivityÃÂ andÃÂ determineÃÂ whatÃÂ class ofÃÂ chemical compoundsÃÂ containedÃÂ in extracts ofÃÂ cambodiaÃÂ leavesÃÂ which hasthe highestÃÂ antibacterialÃÂ activityÃÂ .ÃÂ ResearchÃÂ resultsÃÂ showedÃÂ that theÃÂ leaf extractÃÂ of cambodia leavesÃÂ withÃÂ 1000 ppmÃÂ canÃÂ inhibitÃÂ the growth ofÃÂ S. aureusÃÂ bacteria.ÃÂ Concentration of 30ÃÂ ppmÃÂ is theÃÂ lowest concentrationÃÂ thatcould inhibit the growthÃÂ ofÃÂ S.ÃÂ aureusÃÂ withÃÂ inhibition zoneÃÂ of 1.3ÃÂ mm.ÃÂ Analysis ofÃÂ FT-IRÃÂ spectrophotometer, the ethanolÃÂ leavesÃÂ extract ofÃÂ the cambodiaÃÂ haveÃÂ functional groupÃÂ ofÃÂ C-H sp3ÃÂ (methyl)ÃÂ (methyl),ÃÂ C-C,ÃÂ CÃÂ =ÃÂ Calkenes aliphatic,ÃÂ OHÃÂ andÃÂ CO. |
