Abstract	Cancer ÃÂÃÂ is ÃÂÃÂ the ÃÂÃÂ leading ÃÂÃÂ cause ÃÂÃÂ of ÃÂÃÂ death ÃÂÃÂ in ÃÂÃÂ Indonesia. ÃÂÃÂ Generally, ÃÂÃÂ cancer ÃÂÃÂ therapy ÃÂÃÂ useÃÂÃÂ chemotherapy, ÃÂÃÂ radiation, ÃÂÃÂ surgery ÃÂÃÂ or ÃÂÃÂ combination ÃÂÃÂ of ÃÂÃÂ those. ÃÂÃÂ Various ÃÂÃÂ side ÃÂÃÂ effects ÃÂÃÂ caused ÃÂÃÂ byÃÂÃÂ cancer ÃÂÃÂ therapy ÃÂÃÂ make ÃÂÃÂ the ÃÂÃÂ use ÃÂÃÂ of ÃÂÃÂ additional ÃÂÃÂ drugs. ÃÂÃÂ This ÃÂÃÂ leads ÃÂÃÂ to ÃÂÃÂ an ÃÂÃÂ increase ÃÂÃÂ in ÃÂÃÂ total ÃÂÃÂ costÃÂÃÂ incurred ÃÂÃÂ to ÃÂÃÂ cancer ÃÂÃÂ patients. ÃÂÃÂ The ÃÂÃÂ purpose ÃÂÃÂ of ÃÂÃÂ this ÃÂÃÂ study ÃÂÃÂ was ÃÂÃÂ to ÃÂÃÂ describe ÃÂÃÂ the ÃÂÃÂ treatment ÃÂÃÂ ofÃÂÃÂ cancer ÃÂÃÂ therapyÃÂ¢ÃÂÃÂs side effects ÃÂÃÂ as ÃÂÃÂ well ÃÂÃÂ as ÃÂÃÂ the ÃÂÃÂ average ÃÂÃÂ cost ÃÂÃÂ of ÃÂÃÂ side ÃÂÃÂ effects ÃÂÃÂ treatment, ÃÂÃÂ and ÃÂÃÂ itsÃÂÃÂ percentage ÃÂÃÂ in ÃÂÃÂ the ÃÂÃÂ total ÃÂÃÂ cost ÃÂÃÂ of ÃÂÃÂ cancer ÃÂÃÂ patients ÃÂÃÂ in ÃÂÃÂ Rumah ÃÂÃÂ Sakit ÃÂÃÂ Margono ÃÂÃÂ Soekarjo. ÃÂÃÂ ThisÃÂÃÂ research was a descriptive study with retrospective data ÃÂÃÂ by total sampling method obtainedÃÂÃÂ from ÃÂÃÂ patientsÃÂ¢ÃÂÃÂ ÃÂÃÂ medical ÃÂÃÂ and ÃÂÃÂ receipts ÃÂÃÂ records ÃÂÃÂ of ÃÂÃÂ five ÃÂÃÂ most ÃÂÃÂ common ÃÂÃÂ cancers ÃÂÃÂ (breast,ÃÂÃÂ nasopharynx, ÃÂÃÂ Non ÃÂÃÂ Hodgkins ÃÂÃÂ Lhympoma ÃÂÃÂ (NHL), ÃÂÃÂ ovarian, ÃÂÃÂ and ÃÂÃÂ cervix) ÃÂÃÂ during ÃÂÃÂ January-December 2010. The average cost of ÃÂÃÂ patientÃÂ¢ÃÂÃÂs side effects treatment was calculated by theÃÂÃÂ average ÃÂÃÂ cost ÃÂÃÂ of ÃÂÃÂ side ÃÂÃÂ effects ÃÂÃÂ compared ÃÂÃÂ to ÃÂÃÂ the ÃÂÃÂ average ÃÂÃÂ total ÃÂÃÂ direct ÃÂÃÂ costs ÃÂÃÂ incurred ÃÂÃÂ to ÃÂÃÂ cancerÃÂÃÂ patients. ÃÂÃÂ The ÃÂÃÂ samples ÃÂÃÂ was ÃÂÃÂ obtained ÃÂÃÂ from ÃÂÃÂ the ÃÂÃÂ population ÃÂÃÂ of ÃÂÃÂ 2261 ÃÂÃÂ patients ÃÂÃÂ who ÃÂÃÂ met ÃÂÃÂ theÃÂÃÂ inclusion criteria, that are 73 patients consist of 62 female patients and 11 male patients. TheÃÂÃÂ most ÃÂÃÂ common ÃÂÃÂ side ÃÂÃÂ effects ÃÂÃÂ of ÃÂÃÂ cancer ÃÂÃÂ therapy ÃÂÃÂ were ÃÂÃÂ nausea ÃÂÃÂ and ÃÂÃÂ vomiting ÃÂÃÂ (59.80%), ÃÂÃÂ nausea-vomiting, ÃÂÃÂ anemia, ÃÂÃÂ and ÃÂÃÂ pain ÃÂÃÂ (16.44%), ÃÂÃÂ and ÃÂÃÂ nausea-vomiting ÃÂÃÂ and ÃÂÃÂ anemia ÃÂÃÂ (15.07%). ÃÂÃÂ The ÃÂÃÂ mostÃÂÃÂ used therapy was vitamin B complex followed by histamine-2 inhibitor. The average cost ofÃÂÃÂ side effects for breast cancer was Rp 1,715,373 (8.73%), nasopharynx was Rp 1,149,049 (6.98ÃÂÃÂ %); ÃÂÃÂ NHL ÃÂÃÂ was ÃÂÃÂ Rp ÃÂÃÂ 360,778 ÃÂÃÂ (1.97 ÃÂÃÂ %); ÃÂÃÂ ovary ÃÂÃÂ was ÃÂÃÂ Rp ÃÂÃÂ 911,118 ÃÂÃÂ (3.61 ÃÂÃÂ %) ÃÂÃÂ and ÃÂÃÂ cervical ÃÂÃÂ was ÃÂÃÂ RpÃÂÃÂ 1,416,027 (8.87 %). The results indicated ÃÂÃÂ that the hospital needs ÃÂÃÂ to pay ÃÂÃÂ more attention ÃÂÃÂ onÃÂÃÂ nausea-vomiting effect of chemotherapy, and also cervical cancer side effects therapy as theÃÂÃÂ most costly.Keywords: Cost Analysis, Cancer, Side Effects, Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Hospital
